A Head Full Of Lavender And Green

Perpetually bored with my non-dyed and shoulder length hair (zzzzz...growing out short hair, although after seeing Rosemary's Baby I really want to chop it off again), late night study sessions lead to a purple light bulb going off in my head.
Perhaps it's some delayed form of wannabe teenage rebellion, but I am craving some wildly coloured locks.

This Proenza Schouler hair in my favourite show by the label so far

+ Lady Gaga rocking this look (I know Lady Gaga overkill at the moment everywhere, sorry but she is a good example for my case)...

= me wanting to purchase (and use) this:

Obviously I would have to bleach my hair and then dye it. The thought of me having the responsibility of dyeing my own hair makes me shudder, but  I was thinking of streaks, however I dunno how that would look against my brown hair (blech) which means I would need to leave this one to the professionals aka chuck my money out the window.
Thoughts on the purple head, or as my friend likes to call it the Tavi look?
I could always go with the green tips look....

Red Lips And Little Else

How do you feel about carmine lips on an otherwise bare face at Chanel?
I like the look and could definitely see it working on low key days, but feel that one has to be a) free of bad under-eye circles and b) have perfect skin. Neither A nor B apply towards me, so that's that, but in case you are one of those genetic lottery winners or have killer make up artists skills try it out if you will.
Have a lovely day!

Zink May 2010

The editorial "Black Magic" featuring Asia Bugajska was photogaphed by Julia Pogodina and styled by Newheart Ohanian.

It reminds me of a similar one with Dree Hemingway I posted a while ago. Oh I do love those inky clouds in pictures, although I most say Dree's ed wins for me in this case.
It leads me to think about dark lipstick as well. I recently bought one from MAC in the colour Cyber.

What do you think, StyleStudies readers? Is a dark dark lip colour goth chic or just plain freaky?
I have worn the colour out in daylight before but was a bit self conscious about what other people would think. It's weird how much the thoughts of others can influence us. Ah, the dilemma of being a quite shy person with a crazy taste in fashion and makeup. Doesn't mix all too well.

How naturally beautiful is the hair and make up at Chloe Spring Summer 2010? Making me mentally kick myself in the ass. I could be having long flowing locks as we speak if I hadn't cut it all off. Gggrrr.

I love this burgundy lip colour. Now on the hunt for the perfect lipstick...

I'm afraid I might be slacking off a bit due to a massive uni catch up on everything because I have been so lazy thing.
That aside, here's a first (I think): beauty campaigns. You've got your lovely Miss Stone for Armani cosmetics (which are awesome but wicked expensive, meh) photographed by David Sims and a few vintage ones thrown in for good measure.
Enjoying the sunny days here in the UK and hope you all do too. In case you are stranded in traveller's hell due to the volcano eruption, good luck.

I know Miss Deneuve is slightly older (the only movie I've seen with her is Belle Du Jour but she was so gorgeous in it), yet I find these old Chanel adverts so mesmerising.

And lastly, a nice summery Geoffrey Beene eyewear advert

Jane "Being An Outsider Is The New Cool" Lane

Is it weird to find fashion inspiration in cartoons? Not if it's Daria in my opinion. Been watching this funny as hell old series obsessively lately. Fits my humour to a T. Anyway Jane Lane's style ain't too shabby if you ask me. Yeah she only wear one outfit the whole time but she wears it well no?

Let's go in for the hair and make-up close up:

Not too bad. Me thinks that with my previous love for dark hair and a swipe of le Russian Red lipstick from MAC...

...plus a Vidal Sassoon-esque bob, the Jane Lane look is totally do-able.

Prada Infusion D' Iris

I want that big bottle of Prada perfume Lara's got in front of her.  I am a really big fragrance fanatic, I find perfume to be like a symphony of different accords (uhm except that you smell them with your nose instead of hearing them. I have a really big nose so the smelling part is pretty easy for me).
Oh right, getting off track with my weird sense of humour. So, anyway, I did actually wear this perfume in the summer (I find summer fragrances so much harder to find then winter ones. It has to be light but not too light. Fresh but not too fresh. Whereas during the winter I can just spray on Tom Ford's Black Orchid and call it a day.)
This one is fresh but not too citrusy (hate that), light but still manages to be interesting.
Oh and just in case you are as much of a fragrance freak as I am, here is the composition of the fragrance:

Top Notes: Galbanum, Mandarin Orange, Orange Blossom, Lentisk
Heart Note: Iris, Cedar, Vetiver
Base Notes: Benzoin, Frankincense

"Searching for your signature scent is like finding an unspoken statement for your innermost being. The aromatic ambassador of your soul to exude the essence of you."

To Pluck Or Not To Pluck, That Is The Question

Okay I know my Makeup Matters category is a vast empty space, but I'll try and do some more beauty posts in the future. Here my beloved eyebrow topic ( I am kinda frustrated with mine at the moment, they are way too thin because of some over-tweezing but I don't know how to let them grow thicker without looking like a sloppy mess.). I was looking through a slideshow and though I might post a few different "eyebrow styles". Which one do you guys like best?

A thin Greta Garbo arch or the tadpole shape of the seventies?

A "diva arch" a la Audrey Hepburn or Brooke Shield's thick brows from the eighties?

Or are completely shaved-off eyebrows your thing, like Kristen McMenamy sported in the nineties? Do you want try the Lara Stone bleached eyebrow look?

Red Hair

I get a major case of hair envy whenever I spot Coco Rocha's or Cintia Dicker's red manes (although I believe Coco went back to being a brunette). So as I wait for my short hair to grow out (note to self: never cut your hair that short again!) I will just keep on dreaming of these kind of locks....

Big Eyebrows

Sorry for being so sparse in the posting department lately, school stress has been taking up a lot of my time.
On to other matters, due to the Audrey Hepburn and Keira Knightley films I've been watching lately, I have totally fallen in love with the idea of big-ass eyebrows. Trying to fatten mine up with some MAC eyeshadow, but I think these two do it best.
